LEARNING METHOD

NEW TO THIS?

1. BASICS

We will start by learning very basic things, like the alphabet, numbers or pronunciation. Only after setting solid foundations we will move to the next step.

2. EASY STUFF

We continue with simple, but key things that will help you get around in Holland. Some easy stuff you will need on a daily basis, such as greetings or introducing yourself and others.

3. BOOKS

Only after you have fully mastered the basics and feel comfortable enough, we can finally start with the book program.

Being completely new and having no experience with a language, can be very overwhelming. Luckily, our approach is tailor made to you and your needs, so that you can forget about being overwhelmed and just enjoy learning. If you are not familiar with a language and have never taken a class before, will start with the basics, before moving on with the book.

A different approach to learning...

One that is tailored to your needs...

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM TULP?

Our golden rules to ensure the best learning experiences for our students

We do not believe in “one size fits all”

Our courses are tailored to the specific needs of our students. We combine different methods to help students according to their own way of learning. Maybe you are great at memorising, or perhaps you learn best by mind mapping. These are all things we consider when preparing our tailored learning programs.

We believe in Quality over Quantity

We do not believe that students are just a number. With this in mind, at Tulp you will never feel neglected, and we will never leave any of your questions unanswered. Our main focus is to help you get the most out of your time with us.

We believe this is first and foremost, about people

Before seeing you as a student, we see you as a person. A person who has trusted us to help learn a new language as well as a new culture. The diverse backgrounds and even daily experiences of our students make this distinction. This is why before starting each lesson, our teachers will first ask how you are, and actually be interested in how you are doing. Only then, we can start our class.

ALREADY KNOW SOME THINGS?

1. GOALS

We start with your goals. We establish what do you want to achieve from this course.

2. INTAKE CHAT

We will have a chat to accurately assess your level and see what other languages you might know. Based on this, we can prepare an effective program which makes learning easier for you.

3. WRITTEN EXAM

A written exam helps us see the strengths and difficulties. So if your speaking and writing skills are on different levels, we will know where to focus more.

If you already know some things, or have taken Dutch classes before, we will take a different route together. We start by assessing your current level accurately. Fully understanding your strengths and areas that need improvement, is key to our way of teaching. Only after understanding this clearly, then we can start learning.
